Document Options can trace its roots back to the earliest days of modern office technology. It initially started as a laser copying business with the introduction of the Rank Xerox copying process into the UK. First opening in the North Laines area of Brighton the business expanded opening copying shops in Crawley, Horsham, Chichester, Croydon and, at the suggestion of a customer, in Riyadh. Services increased to incorporate plan printing, litho printing and microfilming. In 1989 the microfilm division became a separate company that quickly established itself as a national supplier to MOD Contractors.
By the middle of the 1990’s the business was re named Document Options to accommodate the introduction of document scanning. Any reference to microfilming was dropped from the company name although some microfilming services continue to this day. Furthermore, a number of microfilming and scanning businesses were acquired in Chichester, Ashford and South London and we added box storage and introduced on-line document hosting.
From our main location in Gatwick, we now operate one of the largest dedicated document scanning and data capture facilities in the South East. The greatest change we have witnessed is not the move from microfilming to scanning but the strategic move by our clients from simply microfilming or scanning for the purpose of providing a history of completed transactions and closed files to the capture of documents upon receipt.
Rather than our customers receiving, handling and processing paper documents these are routed to us. They can be scanned within hours and uploaded to secure servers for our customers to access and process. In addition, we merge paper document and data files into one workflow for our customer to process quickly and easily. Removing paper from the workflow at the earliest opportunity saves our customers time and money. This is particularly true when they are integrated with customer applications such as SAP, SAGE, Version One or Exchequer.
