Document Options were contacted by Saint Ronan’s School when they required specialist scanning and capture services.
The service requirement was to capture delicate documents and included historic letters together with historical photographs, to create usable copies that could be shared, edited and enhanced.
Saint Ronan’s School is an independent co-educational preparatory school for boys and girls from 3 to 13 years located near Hawkhurst in Kent, England. Saint Ronan’s has around 200 boys and 100 girls, all of the day pupils, although boarding is available from Tuesday through to Thursday night for all pupils from Year 5 upwards. The present headmaster is William Trelawny-Vernon.

Our experienced book handling operators liaised with the Project Manager to ensure that all processes and procedures were firmly in place. In doing so, we gave Saint Ronan’s complete confidence in the digitisation process.
We matched the most appropriate scanner to deliver the optimum image output. Our technical team then provided the precise metadata output for each element of the project to the specific requirements requested.
All documents were maintained and preserved to the highest standards, and confidentiality and security are all managed as part of our ISO27001.
DOL were required to scan pages from photo albums, where the images were stuck down we utilised specialist book scanning equipment. The scanned images were cropped and enhanced to ensure each photograph was the best quality possible.
Letters and old documents were individually hand scanned as they were exceedingly delicate; these items were processed using white gloves to ensure no marks or damage. Loose photographs were also handled separately with the utmost care by our specialist capture team.
Our image-enhancement capabilities kept all images looking sharp and fresh. We also performed rigorous visual quality control checks on all images before delivering to Saint Ronan’s.
